You gotta love a website that calls itself the Cosmic Baseball Association and dispenses with an About link.
The CBA views baseball as a manifestation of those unseen universal constants that — like the Lemon Ice King of Corona — govern all known and unknown phenomena. Who could argue with that?
And so it makes me very proud to learn that Seymour Krim has been drafted into the CBA as a new right-handed pitcher for the Dharma Beats. Krim can be expected to confuse batters with his unpredictable pitching style, sometimes maintaining tight editorial control that sends blinding fastballs down the strike zone, and other times letting the ball bounce waywardly across the infield and dribble slowly across home plate while he watches television on the pitcher’s mound. It should be an exciting season.
CBA, I leave you with the anecdote James Boswell included in his “Dedication to Sir Joshua Reynolds,” which appeared in the front matter of the Life of Johnson,
“It is related of the great Dr. Clarke, that when in one of his leisure hours he was unbending himself with a few friends in the most playful and frolicksome manner, he observed Beau Nash approaching; upon which he suddenly stopped:— ‘My boys, (said he,) let us be grave: here comes a fool.’”
Drop a line and let me know how my boy does.
